Key Responsibilities
  • Clear patients of their financial obligations prior to services, at the bedside, and at discharge.
  • Determine eligibility for our financial assistance programs.
  • Collect and negotiate point-of-service payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay amounts.
  • Record and maintain complete documentation of activities performed in account notes and other databases.
  • Provide resolution or direct patients to the appropriate party for resolution or action.
  • Convey estimates of patient responsibility to patients under deductible, coinsurance, and standard co-pay benefit designs.
  • Counsel patients regarding their third-party coverage, financial responsibility, and billing procedures.
  • Review patient account summaries of unbilled charges, billing, payments, and collection activities.
  • Obtain all forms required for patients potentially qualifying for financial assistance.
  • Review and monitor accounts for inpatients and initiate proper action.
  • Compose correspondence related to reimbursement and billing procedures.
  • Screen and inform patients of various healthcare financial assistance programs.
  • Contact external and internal customers requiring assistance with billing inquiries and answer all telephone inquiries.
  • Responsible for obtaining HINN, ABN, LTR letter.
  • Assist with departmental coverage (registration) as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Two (2) years of experience
