We are seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at Expert Staffing in Newburyport, MA. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and reconciling employee time worked and other pay, including deductions.

Job Overview:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing and be proficient in using ADP. You will work closely with the CPA to manage year-end payroll tasks, including approval of annual W-2s.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and reconcile employee time worked and other pay, including deductions
  • Verify employee deductions for each payroll, including taxes, benefits, and others
  • Audit and analyze multiple payroll reports to ensure changes made are accurate before finalizing the biweekly payroll
  • Manage creation and/or adjustment of all payroll pay and benefit codes alongside ADP
  • Manage all year-end payroll tasks, including approval of annual W-2s
  • Manage new state jurisdiction registration and collaborate with the CPA to get final approval
  • Stay up-to-date with changing payroll policies and government regulations via ADP notifications and apply changes when needed
  • Prepare manual payroll checks relating to payroll errors and or terminations
  • Work with ADP when quarterly tax adjustments are needed
  • Reconcile monthly health, dental, disability, and life insurance bills to payroll deductions and approve them for payment
  • Prepare journal entries on a biweekly basis and provide final month-end entry spreadsheet to accounting
  • Prepare the monthly reconciliation and journal creation of Flex Spending and Health Plan
  • Create and/or audit payroll and headcount reports for external auditor(s)
  • Prepare supporting documentation for annual workers compensation audit and act as primary contact for external auditor

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years proven experience processing payroll
  • Minimum 3 years experience required with ADP payroll system or comparable automated payroll system
  • Minimum 1-year experience with Epicor Accounting system strongly preferred
  • Associates degree required in business, human resources, or similar field
  • Expert-level knowledge and proficiency in using MS Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively
  • Possesses a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
