We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Rolling Mill Trainee to join our team at Commercial Metals Company. As a Rolling Mill Trainee, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our steel mill facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a comprehensive understanding of all Rolling Mill systems to identify and address potential issues.
- Direct bundling operations to ensure accurate bundle piece counts and tie placement.
- Obtain and verify order specifications, rolling sequences, and product information.
- Make minor adjustments to bundling sequences as needed.
- Become proficient in using various equipment and tools, including crane rigging and operations, torches, grinders, and pneumatic tools.
- Demonstrate dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs.
- Participate in and uphold the CMC Safety Culture.
- Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following safety rules and regulations.
- Understand and follow start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
- Troubleshoot work-related problems using job knowledge and experience.
- Minimum 1 year of field experience in heavy industrial operations or manufacturing environments.
- Steel industry experience is preferred.
- Ability to work a 12-hour shift, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical activities throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures, with chemicals, dust, fumes, and mists.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn quickly.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to read, speak, and understand English.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
