Collaborating with the University of Maryland School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and University of Maryland, Baltimore, UMMS plays a vital role in training the next generation of healthcare professionals. With a comprehensive network of care, UMMS delivers 25% of all hospital services across diverse communities in Maryland, encompassing urban, suburban, and rural areas. The system includes 11 hospitals, with the University of Maryland Medical Center serving as the flagship institution, alongside numerous urgent care centers and over 150 additional locations throughout 13 counties.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee assigned receivables through work queues, aged trial balance reports (ATB's), and specific projects to meet departmental objectives by resolving outstanding account balances and minimizing uncompensated care.
- Engage with third-party insurers to secure the highest possible cash recovery to decrease receivables.
- Analyze financial references, including reimbursement guidelines, state and federal regulations, and payer-specific reimbursement policies and procedures.
- Ensure accurate processing of pending insurance claims by interpreting responses from insurance payers, requesting adjustments at the account level, submitting appeals and claims reconsiderations, assessing patient financial responsibility, and resolving insurance denials and claim rejections, along with performing insurance verifications.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in general collections, accounts receivable management, or customer service.
