Job Summary

The Plumber is a critical member of the Maintenance and Operations team at Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District. This role is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all plumbing systems, ensuring the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain all plumbing systems in good working condition, performing routine checks and repairs as needed.
  • Perform services needed for plumbing, including repairing water leaks, replacing pipes, equipment, or fixtures, and making minor installations as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintain heating equipment in compliance with all Federal-Slate Commission and Insurance requirements.
  • Perform irrigation duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • Journeyman's license required; may be substituted for irrigation license and/or 5 years plumbing experience.
  • Master license preferred.
  • Able to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent district travel, strenuous bending, climbing, and walking, working in extreme weather conditions, working on slippery uneven surfaces, and exposure to toxic fumes and chemicals.
Equipment Used
  • District vehicle, two-way radio, backhoe, trenching machine, rooter rotor, electric hand tools, and soldering torch.
