Job Summary

POET Biofuels is a global leader in the energy and agricultural sectors. We started as a fuel ethanol supplier and have grown into a multi-commodity marketing and transportation company providing solutions in fuels, grains, and carbon dioxide markets.

As an Accounting Intern, you will work directly with our suppliers and customers, interacting with them to meet their needs efficiently.

You will also be responsible for memorializing these interactions in our general ledger and supporting systems, playing a crucial role in maintaining customer service and cash flow while providing the foundation for building our financial statements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate invoices, review for accuracy, and send to customers
  • Process purchase invoices for payment and load into accounting software at the end of each day
  • Reconcile purchase invoices for month-end settlement
  • Reconcile provisional price contracts
  • Create daily ACH/Wire files
  • Assist with vendor maintenance
  • Maintain and update process documentation for your job
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Understanding of accounting concepts, financial statements, and GAAP
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Master's in Accounting, with a GPA reflecting quality work
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new programs
  • Patient, level-headed, and detail-oriented, with a focus on exceeding expectations
