Job Overview

Farmworker Justice is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Finance and Operations to join our team. This is a full-time, exempt position based in Washington, DC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the financial planning and budgeting process, including preparing and managing the annual budget and multi-year budgets.
  • Lead the preparation of financial reports, including budget-to-actuals and financial reports for the Board, funders, government agencies, and internal decision-makers.
  • Develop and implement financial management systems and processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage the organization's financial resources, including cash flow, investments, and fundraising efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources Specialist to administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
  • Support the Human Resources Specialist in recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, HR policies and compliance, performance management, and training and development.
Requirements
  • Advanced degree in business, accounting, finance, non-profit management, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience managing staff and financial processes, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Experience with accounting system software implementation and MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Suite.
  • Proven experience working in the non-profit sector in a leadership or managerial capacity.
  • Excellent resource management and decision-making skills.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
Benefits

The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $115,000 commensurate upon experience. This is a full-time, exempt position based in Washington, DC. Although this position will be working remotely from home most of the time, in-person visits to the DC office are required on a regular basis. FJ offers a generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision, Life, LTD, and STD insurance, generous PTO and paid holidays, and a 403(b) retirement program with a 4% employer contribution after 1 year of service.
