About the Role

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Health Clinician to join our Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive mental health and substance use evaluations, crisis assessments, and short-term psychotherapy to patients presenting with psychiatric emergencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health and substance use evaluations, crisis assessments, and short-term psychotherapy sessions with patients presenting with psychiatric emergencies.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of professionals to provide comprehensive care and link patients with appropriate services, including inpatient, partial, and outpatient services.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each patient.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families on mental health and substance use issues.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of care and services.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling or related field.
  • Ohio license to practice (i.e., LSW or LPC) is required.
  • Eligibility for future independent licensure (LISW) is required.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of Pre or post-master's training and experience in working with patients with mental illness and/or substance disorders is also required.
  • Experience via an internship prior to completing a Master's level education may be considered.
  • Experience with completing mental health & crisis assessments, case management, and conducting evidenced-based psychosocial interventions preferred.
