As a Breast Imaging Specialist at Akumin, you will conduct comprehensive film screen and/or digital mammography examinations while meticulously gathering patient history and relevant information to ensure the interpreting Radiologist receives a precise clinical background of the patient's signs and symptoms.


Key Responsibilities:
• Execute mammogram examinations on patients.
• Collect patient history, previous films/reports, and any other necessary supportive information (RIS/PACS, burn discs).
• Perform Quality Control (QC) in compliance with FDA/ACR standards.
• Provide imaging assistance to other modalities within the center (x-ray/bone density, etc.).
• Manage mammogram correspondence (results/reminders).
• Note that the COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.

All candidates who accept an offer for employment will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen as a condition of employment.


Position Requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate's Degree preferred.
• Graduate of a State-approved Mammography program required.
• ARRT (M) certification required.
• State license required, if applicable.
• CPR Certification required.
• As applicable, valid state driver's license required.
• Must have met initial requirements under MQSA standards.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Basic proficiency in computer applications and programs.

Physical Requirements:
The employee will be exposed to a strong magnetic field and may encounter blood/body fluids and infectious diseases.

More than 50% of the time:
• Sit, stand, and walk.
• Engage in repetitive movements of hands, arms, and legs.
• See, speak, and hear to effectively communicate with patients.

Less than 50% of the time:
• Stoop, kneel, or crawl.
• Climb and maintain balance.
• Carry and lift (ability to assist non-ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or examination).
