At Akron Children's Hospital, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care for children and their families. Our Patient Service Representative II plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless experience for our patients.

Location: Akron, OH

Department: Administrative

Position Overview:

The Patient Service Representative II is responsible for delivering a comprehensive suite of business, financial, and appointment-related services, ensuring the integrity of the master patient index.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate the efficient operation of the office by prioritizing tasks based on workload and anticipating needs.
  2. Perform routine office duties, including faxing, copying, filing, and promptly returning phone calls.
  3. Schedule patient appointments and diagnostic tests in accordance with hospital protocols.
  4. Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients and families through timely and compassionate responses to inquiries.
  5. Manage interactions with third-party payors and oversee the collection of co-pays.
  6. Execute point-of-service activities, including visit preparation and patient tracking, under the guidance of the Practice Manager.
  7. Participate in cross-coverage efforts with other administrative staff.
  8. Prepare and sanitize exam rooms as needed.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Technical Skills:

  1. Proficient in computerized scheduling systems.
  2. Familiarity with medical terminology and/or CPT/ICD-CM coding is preferred.
  3. Strong communication skills are essential.
  4. Experience collaborating with various organizational levels is required.
  5. Prior experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
  6. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) is required.

Education and Experience:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate degree is preferred.
  2. No specific certification is required.
  3. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  4. No supervisory experience is necessary.

Work Schedule:

This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours per week, with a variable day shift from Monday to Friday.
