About the Role

As a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing the next-generation product, focusing on fluid systems, air delivery, and thermal cooling. Your expertise will be instrumental in leading heat transfer and CFD analysis efforts, establishing analysis best practices, and mentoring a team of fluids engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the fluid systems analysis and architecture efforts for the next-generation product, collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Ensure designs meet functional and safety requirements, adhering to industry standards
  • Provide first-generation analysis support for Root Cause Analysis and performance optimization
  • Coordinate prototype and verification test builds to validate analysis results and substantiate architecture choices
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to develop a product designed for high-volume manufacturing
  • Champion safety in the development of new laboratory processes
  • Participate in first-fielded unit operations for systems validation
Requirements
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of industry experience, or MS with 6+ years of related industry experience
  • Experience with first-principles design, optimizing designs for performance, efficiency, cost, and manufacturability
  • Proficiency in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and flow network analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in optimizing mechanical design, balance-of-plant systems, and interdisciplinary interfaces of fluid systems or airflow systems
  • Direct experience in product development within an early-stage environment, proficient with prototyping techniques and making test devices
  • Prior experience in Energy Storage, Battery Systems, Renewable Energy, or Utility industry is a plus
