The role of a Lead Civil Engineer involves carrying out the planning, design, and modeling of site grading, surface preparation, stormwater, stormwater management systems, preparation of technical documents, and providing mentorship for junior engineers.

Our team works on a wide variety of projects, including site development, infrastructure, landfills, stream restoration, and soil/groundwater remediation. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lead Civil Engineer to join our team in Portland, Maine.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Grading and drainage design and stormwater modeling experience
  • Prepare engineering design calculations and design reports
  • AutoCAD Civil3D knowledge for developing surface models and earthwork quantities
  • Knowledge of materials of construction and developing construction details
  • Preparation of project permitting documents for local, state, and federal permits
  • Perform construction inspection and oversight activities
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites (approximately 20% overnight travel)

Requirements include:

  • BS or MS degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related field
  • PE or ability to obtain PE registration within 1 year
  • Ability to prepare design engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and drawings
  • AutoCAD Civil3D knowledge and experience
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training is a plus
