The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Regional Public Safety Coordinator. This position will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of regional public safety plans and policies.

Job Overview

The COG Department of Homeland Security and Public Safety has an immediate opening for a Regional Public Safety Coordinator. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise, planning, and coordination support to regional stakeholders.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that requires strong communication, analytical, and project management skills. You will work closely with emergency management directors, law enforcement officials, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective public safety strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitating meetings with high-level stakeholders to discuss public safety initiatives
  • Drafting and preparing reports, fact sheets, and other documents on topics related to public safety
  • Coordinating and tracking action items and decision-making processes
  • Leading or assisting in the development, maintenance, and review of regional plans and policies
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as homeland security, emergency management, or public administration
  • At least 2 years of experience in a related field, with a focus on public safety and emergency management
  • Strong communication, analytical, and project management skills

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
