Public Safety Planner II, III, IV

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments is seeking an experienced Public Safety Planner to join our Department of Homeland Security and Public Safety. This professional-level position will play a crucial role in regional public safety and homeland security, focusing on emergency management, fire and rescue, law enforcement, public health, transportation, emergency communications, and more.
As a key member of our team, you will provide technical expertise, planning, and coordination support to regional stakeholders and conduct research and analysis for various working groups within the Public Safety and Health Preparedness section. Your primary responsibilities will include facilitating meetings with high-level stakeholders, drafting agendas and meeting materials, organizing committees, and leading project teams.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate the development or updating of specific regional plans, agreements, or procedures related to cybersecurity and 911 service outages.
- Support assigned committees by organizing and facilitating monthly meetings, tracking agenda items, and developing work plans.
- Lead planning for regional public safety professional development/education series and develop and track multiple ongoing or new projects related to emergency planning and capacity building.
To be successful in this role, you must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and minimum two years of office experience (Planner II). A master's degree is preferred. For Planner III and IV positions, you will need additional years of experience and qualifications. You should also possess excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to present complex information in concise summaries and maintain accurate files.
Salary InformationWe offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on your level of experience and qualifications.
