SGI Global is looking for a Senior Financial Investigator to provide critical support to the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) - Northern District of West Virginia. The role involves meticulous examination and interpretation of financial documentation.
The USAO is engaged in the investigation, litigation, and prosecution of cases involving financial data and information. These cases encompass various forms of white-collar crime, including civil and criminal health care fraud, grant fraud, Government contracting fraud, and investment fraud. The complexity of these investigations necessitates a thorough review of bank statements, health care claims, audit reports, and other financial materials. The expertise of a Senior Financial Investigator is essential for the USAO to effectively address these matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support prosecutors by analyzing financial records obtained during investigations, demonstrating proficiency in utilizing FinCen and Suspicious Activity Reports to trace the source and flow of funds, as well as the nature and volume of transactions.
- Employ various databases to ascertain asset origins and provide testimony regarding asset flows and related account interactions.
- Trace illicit proceeds, identify assets and funds, and assist in formulating legal strategies for cases.
- Collaborate with prosecutors on the financial aspects of preparing for hearings, court proceedings, and depositions, including calculating losses in accordance with the United States Sentencing Guidelines (USSG).
- Assist in the presentation of financial evidence during trials and other court sessions, providing expert testimony as needed.
Qualifications:
- A four-year degree in accounting or finance; CPA certification is a plus.
- A minimum of seven years of experience in accounting, finance, or related investigative fields.
- Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation.
