Insurance Claims Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY: This role involves overseeing all facets of automobile, general liability, and first-party property claims with minimal supervision, managing cases from initiation to resolution in accordance with established authority and guidelines.

  • Efficiently handles a caseload of 150 to 180 files related to auto and general liability claims, including highly complex cases.
  • Conducts timely investigations to gather necessary information.
  • May require occasional on-site investigations based on the severity of the incident.
  • Assesses liability and evaluates claims in compliance with state regulations and company policies.
  • Coordinates with external defense counsel as needed, directing and managing their involvement appropriately.
  • Engages in communication with claimants, service providers, and vendors regarding claims-related matters.
  • Calculates and establishes reserves in line with company standards, with limits exceeding those set for Claims Examiner I and II.
  • Finalizes claims settlements and secures necessary authorizations.
  • Maintains an organized diary system for case reviews and ensures documentation reflects the current status and activities related to each file.
  • Prepares and presents files for internal claim reviews.

Independently conducts thorough file reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field; a minimum of four (4) years handling government claims, including knowledge of FL sovereign immunity and Statute 768.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Adjuster's license is required.
