Position Overview

SUMMARY: The Real Estate Financial Analyst will provide essential support to the Controller and Senior Management on various projects and assist with departmental functions such as budgeting, audit preparation, and tenant communications. This role involves managing the daily accounting operations for a portfolio of retail properties, contributing to all accounting activities including general ledger oversight, budgeting, tenant billing and collections, as well as year-end financial reporting for both new and existing shopping centers within the Chase Properties portfolio. Additionally, the analyst will assist the CFO and Senior Fund Accountant with specific Fund Administration tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage general ledger functions for assigned properties, including annual budgets, monthly variance analysis, work paper preparation, and year-end closing activities.
  • Oversee the preparation of property-level invoices, conduct account analyses, and manage bank statements and tenant chargebacks.
  • Assist in the recording of fixed assets and depreciation, along with generating reports for the company’s asset portfolio.
  • Handle recovery billing for assigned properties, including year-end reconciliations, escrow adjustments, and tenant disputes.
  • Balance monthly tenant cash applications and perform bank reconciliations for the assigned property portfolio.
  • Review and process invoices for significant expenses such as taxes, mortgages, and legal reimbursements.
  • Coordinate the collection of outstanding accounts receivable from tenants for the assigned properties.
  • Engage in additional projects as directed by the Controller and Senior Management.
  • Conduct variance analysis comparing actual investment performance against budgeted figures.
  • Support the CFO and Senior Fund Accountant in journal entry bookings for quarterly investment fund distributions and capital calls.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction, or Real Estate from an accredited institution.
  • Master's Degree (MBA) or equivalent experience is a plus.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in commercial real estate, public accounting, or finance.
  • Preferred certifications include CPA, though not mandatory.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong computer skills.
  • Experience with budget/accounting software (MRI) is desirable.
