We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Hospice Operations to join our team at Providence. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day clinical management of our hospice services, ensuring the effective and efficient use of all resources in carrying out our organization's purposes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Direct the hospice program through management of Clinical Managers and support staff, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to excel in their roles.
  • Administrative Oversight: Manage program administration, planning, supervision, and evaluation, ensuring compliance with regulatory and reimbursement requirements.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Manage day-to-day compliance with regulatory and reimbursement requirements, including Medicare COPs, state, and The Joint Commission requirements.
  • Policy Development: Participate in the development and implementation of administrative policies, ensuring they align with our organization's goals and objectives.
  • Staffing and Talent Management: Determine clinical staffing needs and staffing patterns, ensuring the optimal use of personnel and their maximum potential.
  • Resource Stewardship: Responsible for the stewardship of resources, meeting Board-approved budget, and ensuring the effective use of all resources.
  • Community Representation: Represent our hospice services to the community and hospitals, nurturing and maintaining collaborative working relationships.
  • Patient Care Management: Manage, direct, and supervise patient care activities, ensuring high-quality care and patient satisfaction.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, collaborating with the quality team to establish QA/PI programs and develop in-services and educational experiences for performance improvement.
  • Palliative Care: Participate in palliative care activities within our hospice services, system hospitals, and the community.
  • Departmental Leadership: Develop and manage departmental strategic goals and service line development, ensuring alignment with our organization's overall strategy.
  • Compliance Education: Annually complete compliance education and understand applicable policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare, or a related field; or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience: 3 years of supervisory experience in a home health agency, hospice, or related health program; 2 years of RN experience in Hospice; and Director of Hospice experience (preferred).
  • Skills: Ability in program administration, including knowledge of healthcare policies and reimbursement practices; demonstrated excellence in managing human resources; and demonstrated excellence in both written and oral communication.
  • Certifications: California Registered Nurse License (Vendor Managed); and Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) (preferred).
