Job Summary
This role is essential in facilitating access to UTMB services for both new and returning patients. It involves coordinating financial arrangements, conducting financial assessments, and communicating effectively with patients, referral sources, and the healthcare team regarding patient access and financial matters.
- Execute and master the functions of COR, ED, and Admitting Registrations as outlined in each area's customized CBO tool.
- Verify all patient demographic information, insurance coverage, benefits, and authorization requirements for all services.
- Assess patients for financial responsibility and potential cash collections.
- Identify potential reimbursement sources available to patients and guide them towards financial assistance programs.
- Determine and collect the appropriate deposit.
- Facilitate referrals and prior authorizations.
- Conduct eligibility determinations for third-party programs.
- Act as a resource for patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals by providing accurate and relevant information to ensure patient satisfaction and maximize reimbursement.
- Possess individual department-specific knowledge and training regarding ABN and PPA agreement forms.
- Meet minimum job performance standards for successful evaluations, whether probationary or annual, or as required on an individual basis.
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain Registration Quality Assurance (Q/A) expectations as defined by the specific departmental area, as measured monthly and annually during performance reviews, with scoring that includes any errors reported through internal and external sources not included in the random Q/A process.
- Correct or acknowledge errors within the designated timeframe, with monitoring for excessive delays and compliance during continuous assessment and annual performance reviews.
- Exhibit the ability to maintain acceptable Productivity Standards as defined by the specific departmental area, measured monthly and annually during performance reviews.
- Review and apply all announcements and relevant communications related to job duties, as observed and monitored by the Q/A process.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of new staff members.
- Prioritize and complete all tasks accurately, effectively, and efficiently.
- Engage in team meetings and activities, supporting the philosophy and goals of the team, department, and UTMB.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Actual salary will be commensurate with experience.
