Human Resources Officer, Africa Region

The Human Resources Officer (HRO) plays a pivotal role in enhancing human resources service delivery to ensure exceptional support for the Africa Region and country offices. This role assists with day-to-day operations of the Nairobi Regional office and carries out responsibilities in talent acquisition, onboarding, contract tracking, benefit management, staff offboarding, HRIS, employee communications, and other assigned areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Talent Acquisition: Assist in recruiting and interview processes, including job announcements, screening/tracking applicants, arranging/participating in selection processes, and administering reference and pre-employment background checks.
- Personnel Administration: Prepare initial onboarding orientation for new hires, establish and maintain employee files, and prepare source documentation needed for payroll or personnel.
- Support: Assist with enrollments in insurances, coordinate with insurance carriers and broker, manage new hire benefit enrollment, and communicate changes to staff.
- HR Education: Possess a working knowledge of labor laws, maintain awareness of changes in new laws, and keep up-to-date with latest HR trends and best practices.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required. 3 to 5 years of HR experience, preferably in an international nonprofit organization with 50+ employees, is also required. HR Certification is preferred (SHRM-PHR, GPHR). Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other software, is necessary.
Working Conditions:
This position primarily performs indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to electronics work. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
