Orthopedic Care Registered Nurse
The Orthopedic Care RN plays a crucial role in the management of adult patients experiencing conditions typical to the Orthopedic/Surgical Unit, including arthritis, diabetes, obesity, spinal disorders, and fractures. This position involves performing therapeutic interventions that are integral to the unit, such as the removal of total joint and back drains, management of anticoagulation therapy, and providing care for traction, pin sites, and casts.
The Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is tasked with addressing the priority needs of patients by conducting thorough assessments, engaging in interdisciplinary care planning, delivering and/or delegating care, and evaluating patient responses and progress towards clinical goals. The Staff RN also oversees Licensed Practical Nurses and/or other support personnel in the provision of patient care as outlined in relevant statutes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Upholds the mission, vision, and core values of the organization
- Initiates comprehensive assessments based on patients' presenting issues
- Analyzes patient data to establish nursing priorities
- Incorporates applicable standards of care into individualized care plans
- Implements therapeutic and supportive interventions
- Educates patients and their families on care processes
- Monitors and evaluates patient responses to interventions
- Considers cultural factors in patient care
- Documents all aspects of patient care in accordance with established procedures
- Facilitates the transition of patients to subsequent levels of care
- Engages in ongoing professional development opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a current RN license from the State of Nebraska or an approved compact state of residence. Evidence of certification and/or training in the relevant practice area is required. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification is mandatory.
