Senior Radiation Therapy Specialist

Under the general oversight of the Director, this role is pivotal in guiding the operations of radiation therapy staff. The Lead Radiation Therapist will engage in regular duties on the CT/SIM or treatment machines, ensuring effective resolution management of treatment setups while upholding quality standards. This position necessitates clear communication with patients, staff, physicians, and the Director, while also monitoring workflow and providing technical assistance to team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate all radiation therapy machinery, including linear accelerators and high dose rate after loading machines.
- Conduct morning checks and warm-ups of CT/SIM and/or accelerators.
- Administer treatments in accordance with physician prescriptions, ensuring accurate dosage and treatment timing.
- Prepare and maintain patient treatment records, and provide necessary instructions to patients.
- Collaborate with the team to deliver radiation treatments effectively.
- Create patient setup devices and maintain compliance with infection control practices.
- Demonstrate professional behavior tailored to the diverse needs of patients.
- Ensure the safety of patients and staff by minimizing radiation exposure.
- Maintain excellent communication skills and foster teamwork among staff members.
Qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant experience in patient treatment utilizing various radiation therapy equipment is required; four years is preferred.
- Education: High School Diploma/GED, completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program, and current CRT/ARRT certification are essential.
- Licenses and Certifications: Must possess a Certified Radiologic Technologist - Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Certificate and a Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with record and verify systems and multi-leaf collimators is advantageous.
Work Environment:
This position is full-time, requiring on-site presence. The work schedule includes weekdays with potential on-call responsibilities during weekends.
