Job Summary:
As a Lead Radiation Therapist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a crucial role in leading the activities of staff therapists and maintaining a regular schedule on the CT/SIM or treatment machines. Your responsibilities will include resolving treatment set-ups, providing quality control, and verbally communicating with patients, staff therapists, physicians, and the Director. You will also monitor workflow, provide technical support to staff, and assist with monthly scheduling of therapists. Additionally, you will operate all radiation therapy equipment, set up and treat patients as per physician prescription, maintain patient treatment records, provide instruction to patients, and practice radiation safety principles. This role requires a high level of professionalism, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Operate all CT/SIM and treatment equipment, including linear accelerators and high dose rate after loading machines.
• Perform morning checks and warm-ups of CT/SIM and/or accelerators.
• Treat patients with prescribed modes, energies, doses, and monitor units/treatment times as prescribed by physicians.
• Participate in a team approach to giving radiation treatments.
• Maintain treatment records, schedule patient treatments, and provide patient instructions.
• Make patient set-up devices, immobilization devices, and radiation field-shaping blocks.
• Prepare patient treatment charts.
• Protect patients, staff, visitors, and self from unnecessary radiation exposure or injury.
• Prevent transmission of infectious disease through adherence to infection control practices.
• Maintain good verbal and written communication skills and work collaboratively with all staff members.
• Exhibit excellent customer service skills.

Basic Qualifications:
• Three (3) years of recent and relevant experience in patient treatment using various radiation therapy equipment; four (4) years preferred.
• Operate all radiation therapy equipment and planning equipment.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Team-oriented.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Current BLS required.
• Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Education:
• High School Diploma/GED.
• Graduate from an Accredited Radiation Therapy Program.
• Current CRT/ARRT Certificate and.
• Graduate from an Accredited Radiation Therapy Program.
• Current BLS required.
• California Fluoroscopy license (required for areas where fluoroscopy is performed by the therapist for patient diagnosing).

License, Certification, Registration:
• Certified Radiologic Technologist - Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Certificate (California).
• Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California).
• Basic Life Support.

Additional Requirements:
• Use of record and verify system and multi-leaf collimators.
