Job Summary

The General Manager at MCR Hotels is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel, executing the preventative maintenance process, and meeting or exceeding planned objectives for maximizing profitability and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management for all hotel personnel and ensure the health, safety, and welfare of hotel guests and employees.
  • Collaborate with corporate support teams to develop and deliver the execution plan for the property.
  • Escalate any challenges preventing the hotel team from executing on all processes and procedures.
  • Optimize financial performance by utilizing tools, systems, and guidelines provided.
  • Maintain all levels of service in accordance with directives given by regional leadership.
  • Ensure the hotel is operated in compliance with state, federal, and local regulations as well as Company and brand standards.
  • Coach, counsel, and motivate employees to maximize revenue and control expenses.
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
  • Tour the operating departments daily and adjust as needed via department heads.
  • Read and evaluate financial reports to inform decision-making.
  • Ensure department heads execute to approved staffing levels and weekly schedules.
  • Provide training in service standards to each department using the steps to effective training.
  • Process invoices daily using the approved accounts payable platform and process.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property through inspections and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Interview prospective candidates for vacant positions prior to any offer being extended.
  • Provide consistent, documented feedback to foster an environment that leads to professional internal growth.
  • Ensure front of house presence during peak check-in, check-out, and heavy traffic periods to drive customer satisfaction.
  • Complete required corporate training modules and become certified to train others as required.
Requirements
  • Must have a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to understand and follow established guidelines and procedures.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations and maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying, and resolving the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
  • A valid driver's license is required for this position.
  • Must be attentive to detail and meet deadlines.
  • Must be proficient in Windows operating systems, Company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must have a desire to serve all guests.
  • Must meet the legal age to serve alcoholic beverages (at select properties).
Preferred Qualifications
  • A college degree is preferred.
