Job Overview:

Regional IT Systems Specialist

The Regional IT Systems Specialist (B16) plays a crucial role in delivering effective computer systems support.

This position entails offering technical assistance for organizational information technology systems and managing automated office equipment across various environments, including stand-alone, networked, or mainframe setups.

The specialist may also provide training to colleagues and operates under general supervision, allowing for a moderate degree of initiative and independent decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve computer-related issues efficiently.
- Prepare equipment for user deployment and ensure the correct installation of cables, operating systems, and relevant software.
- Install, maintain, relocate, and assist in testing and upgrading both new and existing hardware and software.

- Deliver exceptional customer service and respond to user inquiries regarding software, hardware operations, and the interface of systems and applications.

- Support the maintenance of local and wide area networks, including cable and switch installations, and manage inventories.
- Execute backup, recovery, and archival procedures for files stored on the network.
- Liaise with vendors, users, management, and network programming teams to clarify issues and identify solutions.

- Assist in developing training programs and provide user support and education on available hardware, software, and utilities.

- Help maintain the physical and logical structures of the network while installing and testing hardware and software.

- Participate in performance tuning and capacity planning to optimize network resource performance and maintain network support software.

- Conduct evaluations of upgraded or new hardware and software, identifying their strengths, weaknesses, and potential benefits for the organization.

- Aid in maintaining the operating system and security software on the network, including adding new users and establishing their rights and privileges.
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Familiarity with network infrastructure and data processing methodologies; knowledge of personal computer hardware and software; understanding of network operating systems and security software; and proficiency in performance monitoring and capacity management tools.

- Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve network and computer system issues.

- Proficient in using IBM or Dell personal computers or laptops released within the last four years, as well as Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio (or equivalent) for troubleshooting computer systems.
