Role Overview:

As a pivotal member of our logistics team, the Senior Ocean Import Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with legal regulations and managing import operations in accordance with governmental guidelines. This role involves meticulous oversight of ocean freight shipments, ensuring all necessary licensing and documentation are in place.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze contracts to ensure all required clauses are included and identify any omissions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including freight forwarders and customs officials, to streamline shipment logistics.
  • Select appropriate carriers for product shipments and prepare necessary documentation for freight forwarding.
  • Manage all accounting functions related to billing, distribution, and collection of funds for client cargo.
  • Prepare pricing quotations for inbound international freight and manage routing of international traffic.
  • Facilitate customs clearance by expediting inbound import traffic.
  • Maintain customer profiles to ensure accurate information is available for consistent service delivery.
  • Engage with the U.S. Customs Service to address specialized clearance requirements.
  • Input customs entry line items into the Import CHB Computer System and submit entries for customs approval.
  • Conduct research and resolve operational challenges as they arise.

Qualifications:

This is a senior-level position requiring a minimum of 3-6 years of relevant experience. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and a solid understanding of freight forwarding terminology, U.S. Customs Regulations, and basic accounting functions. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
