Job Title: Ocean Freight Compliance Manager

We are seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Compliance Manager to join our team at DPDHL. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulations applicable to the transport of ocean freight, including those related to the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement scalable processes and procedures to navigate commonly encountered compliance issues.
  • Provide guidance and support to the global ocean freight organization on compliance enforcement.
  • Establish and maintain processes and policies supporting a global station network to remain compliant with applicable regulations.
  • Evaluate and implement compliance software solutions.
  • Contribute to quarterly business reviews, webinars, and sales engagements with compliance-related content and guidance.
  • Collaborate with department colleagues to establish best-in-class compliance processes and procedures.
  • Monitor relevant developments and changes to regulations and requirements.
  • Update standard policies, processes, and procedures as needed to reflect changes in regulations or requirements.
  • Establish and manage an internal auditing program to review transactions for FMC compliance.
  • Regularly report to the business on the status of FMC compliance.
  • Use audit results to provide targeted corrective action measures.
  • Establish and maintain an internal NRA/NSA, record-keeping system.
  • Assist with various compliance projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate frequently with business partners, local management, global DHL project teams, and legal colleagues from across the various DHL business units.
  • Provide rapid, practical, business-oriented advice to applicable stakeholders.
  • Proactively work to resolve potential compliance matters from investigation through resolution, where appropriate.
  • Understand DPDHL's business operations, its goals, and strategies.
  • Ensure that business objectives are met while compliance is maintained.
Requirements:
  • 10 years' experience with strong analytical skills.
  • Undergraduate university degree from an accredited school.
  • Project management skills preferred.
  • Experience establishing a national/global compliance program.
  • Expertise in FMC regulations, rules, and requirements.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to foster trust and confidence in colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to research, analyze, and problem-solve.
  • Ability to travel as required (estimated less than 25% of the time).
