Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction to assigned students at designated times and locations.
  • Implement the educational philosophy of SSD and Partner Districts through evidence-based instructional methods for planning, executing, and assessing learning outcomes.
  • Engage in professional development focused on specialized instruction and the special education process.
  • Foster an environment tailored to the unique needs of each student to enhance learning experiences.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrate effective lesson planning and maintain documentation of program preparation.
  • Encourage students to uphold appropriate standards of behavior.
  • Administer and interpret standardized assessments and monitor student progress.
  • Utilize a variety of high-impact instructional strategies tailored for special education.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to committees as needed.
  • Coordinate services to address specific instructional needs of students.
  • Manage instructional materials and provide training for support staff.
  • Regularly assess student progress through various evaluation methods.
  • Assist students with physical tasks as necessary.
  • Incorporate multimedia and technology resources into learning activities.
  • Prepare for and lead IEP meetings.
  • Be available to students and families for educational support outside of regular instructional hours.
  • Collaborate with the educational team to design individualized programs for students.
  • Work closely with families to provide information and support regarding their child's services.
  • Offer ongoing support and resources to educational team members to enhance student support.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree with a specialization in special education is required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Missouri Special Education Certification in the appropriate area is required.

Essential Skills:

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret various documents, write routine reports, and communicate effectively.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to collect and analyze data, perform basic arithmetic operations, and understand measurements.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to problem-solve and follow written or oral instructions.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must be capable of performing various physical tasks, including moving around the school premises and assisting students as needed. Participation in required training for crisis intervention is essential.

Salary and Benefits:

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with educational qualifications. Employees will continue to receive their retirement income and will not be required to contribute to retirement plans, instead contributing to social security. Additional benefits include medical, vision, dental, and life insurance, along with paid holidays and personal time off.
