Role Summary:

This role involves collaborating with children across a spectrum of ages and disabilities. The position requires flexibility and the ability to travel to various educational facilities within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess communication challenges, including but not limited to receptive-expressive language, articulation, voice, fluency, and neuromuscular issues.
  2. Document assessment findings and connect the impact of communication disorders to the educational achievements of students.
  3. Identify individual needs, develop treatment strategies, and provide recommendations for interventions and personalized education plans (IEPs).
  4. Deliver speech and language therapy to students with communication disorders in both mainstream and specialized educational settings.
  5. Offer consultative support regarding communication management to students, educational teams, families, and relevant community organizations.
  6. Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  7. Actively participate as a valuable member of educational teams.
  8. Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  9. Organize and manage caseloads efficiently.
  10. Document billing activities for third-party services.
  11. Understand and adhere to due process and relevant legislation concerning children with disabilities.
  12. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications:

Education: A master's degree in Speech Language Pathology is required, along with ASHA CCCs or equivalent qualifications. Current Washington ESA certification is necessary. Experience with diverse student populations and their communication needs is preferred.

Additional Requirements: Consistent attendance during scheduled hours.

Preferred Experience: Previous work with culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse children and families.

Employment Conditions: Background check clearance and maintenance of a current ESA Certified Washington State Teacher's Certificate.

Physical Requirements: The role may require sitting for extended periods, using hands for tasks, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment: The position is primarily indoors, with moderate noise levels. The role may involve managing challenging interactions with students and parents, necessitating adaptability to interruptions.
