Job Summary

Temple University is seeking a highly skilled Financial Associate to join our team in the Criminal Justice Training Programs (CJTP) department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and directing the financial operations of CJTP, ensuring the effective management of contracts, grants, and sponsored projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial plans to forecast, prepare, and monitor contracts, grants, and sponsored projects.
  • Approve expenditures for multiple funds totaling $2-$3 million, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Oversee department payroll, assist with project management, and perform financial queries to ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Prepare summary and detailed reports, handle financial audit inquiries, and reconcile cost center accounts.
  • Review monthly reconciliations and financial reporting requirements, monitoring departmental expenditures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Three years of related finance or accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, prepare journal entries/transfers, and develop spreadsheets.
  • Expertise in standard financial practices, analytical skills, and ability to work with financial data sets.
  • Organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work within the fiscal systems at a university level and make financial decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with diverse internal and external constituents.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Temple University's financial systems.
  • Strong financial management and reporting skills.
Work Arrangement

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), with the duration of this arrangement at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
