Compensation: $33.75/hr

Type: Contract, Potential for extension or conversion to permanent

Job Summary:
The Research Associate will be responsible for conducting molecular biology experiments, developing and benchmarking high-throughput NGS technologies, and generating, organizing, and maintaining records of experiments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction and purification, NGS library preparation and QC, PCR, qPCR, cloning, etc.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct molecular biology experiments, including RNA/DNA extraction/purification, NGS library preparation & QCs, and loading sequencers
  • Develop and benchmark high-throughput NGS technologies (e.g., DNA-Seq and RNA-Seq assays)
  • Develop and edit protocols with standard operating procedures
  • Generate, organize, and maintain meticulous records on all conducted experiments
  • Work independently and/or with supervision with team members on new assay and protocol development
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to benchmark assays for automation liquid handlers

Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree with 0-3 years of professional experience in molecular biology, biotechnology, or biochemistry
  • Demonstrated expertise in molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction & purification, NGS library preparation & QC, PCR, qPCR, cloning, etc.
  • Strong understanding of theory behind techniques, proficient reasoning skills in experimental design and optimizing wet lab techniques, coupled with an exceptional attention to details
  • Must be a strong team player with a proactive and positive attitude
  • Ability to use technical skills and good time management to perform work efficiently and meet project timelines
  • Exposure to cell biology techniques such as cell culture, along with functional assays for drug responses is a plus
