Job Overview

The role of the Sheet Metal Fabricator involves the operation of various machinery and equipment to produce metal components. Employees in this position are tasked with interpreting technical drawings and performing essential maintenance on machinery. A focus on safety and cleanliness in the workspace is paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in effective communication with team members to uphold a safe work environment.
  • Operate a diverse range of machinery and tools.
  • Prepare and set up materials for the fabrication process.
  • Manage the loading and unloading of materials into machinery.
  • Accurately measure and apply specifications to metal parts.
  • Interpret and understand technical drawings and schematics.
  • Review production orders and related documentation.
  • Lift and maneuver parts and materials as required.
  • Utilize carts for the transportation of materials within the facility.
  • Follow both written and verbal instructions to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Assist colleagues with the handling of materials.
  • Recognize and differentiate between various tools and components.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
  • Be available for overtime and adapt to job rotation as necessary.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment at all times.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform grinding, buffing, drilling, and bending of materials.
  • Assist in inventory management of parts.
  • Operate material handling equipment as needed.
  • Participate in machine operation rotations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools is required.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience in metal fabrication is advantageous.
  • Experience as a team member or contractor in a similar role is preferred.

  • Operate overhead hoists for heavy lifting tasks.
  • Tolerate prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Utilize both hands for machinery operation and material handling.
  • Safely operate heavy equipment as required.
