Position: Special Education Regional Manager

About the Role: The Special Education Regional Manager will oversee a variety of programs and services offered by Phalen Leadership Academies, focusing on special education services including Response to Intervention (RTI), Dyslexia, and Section 504 compliance. This role is essential in assisting the Special Populations Director with the execution, management, and continuous improvement of programs and services, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations as well as PLA policies.

The Special Education Regional Manager collaborates closely with school leadership and educators to blend general and special education services, working interdependently across various programs and departments to synchronize practices, staffing, professional development, budgeting, and processes for the optimal use of district resources aimed at enhancing student academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate and supervise the activities of special education teachers and support staff to ensure compliance with referral evaluations, Individualized Education Program (IEP) development, and effective service delivery for students with disabilities.
  2. Facilitate interdisciplinary meetings at assigned locations to ensure adherence to federal and state laws, regulations, and district policies.
  3. Evaluate the performance of related service personnel, providing guidance and support for professional growth.
  4. Collaborate with building principals and district administrators to address issues and ensure effective delivery of special populations programs.
  5. Lead staff development initiatives for special services personnel, including training for MTSS members and related service providers.
  6. Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, addressing concerns and facilitating parental involvement in meetings.
  7. Participate in IEP meetings and other student-focused gatherings to ensure the proper development and execution of programs and services.
  8. Stay informed about state and district special education policies and assist in preparing necessary reports and grant applications.
  9. Support the training and development of Section 504 coordinators and manage data collection for Section 504 students.
  10. Ensure efficient allocation of materials and resources while fostering positive relationships with school administration, parents, and students.
  11. Work closely with the Special Populations Director to maintain compliance with special education laws and provide necessary training and coaching to staff.
  12. Conduct regular audits of IEPs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and district policies.
