Job Summary

Muscatine Power and Water is seeking a skilled Maintenance Helper to join our team. As a key member of our Generation Maintenance group, you will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining facilities and equipment, assisting with construction, preventive, routine, and breakdown maintenance and repairs on all equipment in the power plant, Material Handling, and FGD facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine greasing and lubrication activities on various pieces of mechanical equipment throughout the Generation Site.
  • Work with Predictive Maintenance Technicians to optimize lubrication activities and equipment reliability.
  • Perform routine filter cleaning and replacement activities on HVAC units and other equipment throughout the Generation Site.
  • Assist in construction, preventive, routine, and breakdown maintenance and repairs on all equipment in the power plant, Material Handling, and FGD facilities.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of power generation equipment and facilities, including piping systems.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, drive results, and ensure work is accomplished properly, safely, and in a timely manner.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude and be comfortable working with power tools, rigging, torches, and arc welders.
  • Ability to develop, read, and interpret drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals.
Work Environment
  • Work environment is primarily in an industrial coal-fired power plant.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work from elevated platforms, scaffolds, sky climbers, and temporary platforms for extended periods under various types of weather/seasonal conditions.
  • Must be able to perform regular and repeated physical tasks, including shoveling, lifting, pulling, pushing, rodding, jackhammering, and moving trash pumps.
