Maintenance Technician Job Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the retreat center by performing routine repairs and preventative maintenance on property (indoor and outdoor). This role requires a strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as experience with lawn care, tree removal, and landscaping.

Responsibilities:
  • Repair and maintain lighting systems, including retrofitting and converting to LED lighting.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose faulty electrical circuitry, pumps, motors, and other equipment.
  • Install and troubleshoot new equipment, including emergency generators and systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Operate and maintain emergency systems, backup generators, and emergency power.
  • Repair and replace broken pipes, drain lines, and domestic water application systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair refrigerant systems, heating water systems, ventilation systems, and other equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair pneumatics, compressors, pumps, motors, and other equipment.
  • Perform lawn care and mowing, clear downed trees, and maintain trails throughout the forest as needed.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of building maintenance experience in a commercial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Experience with lawn care, tree removal, and landscaping.
  • Ability to operate riding lawn mowers, tractors, chain-saws, and other tools.
Working Conditions:

The Maintenance Technician will work on-site at the retreat center, with occasional travel to off-site locations. The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a variety of weather conditions.

The retreat center is a smoke-free and pet-free environment.
