Medical Care Specialist

The Physician Assistant (PA) role at Katmai is a critical position that requires a highly skilled and dedicated professional. As a PA, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients, working closely with healthcare teams to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide diagnostic and treatment services to patients, including conducting medical screenings, reviewing medical histories, and prescribing medications.
Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement treatment plans, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive and coordinated care.
Conduct physical examinations, order laboratory tests, and interpret radiographs and lab results to diagnose medical conditions.
Develop and maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring that all relevant information is documented and up-to-date.
Requirements:
A minimum of one year of experience as a certified physician assistant is required for this role.
Successful completion of the National Commission of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination and maintenance of certification are also required.
Possession of a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number is necessary for this position.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, making rapid decisions and prioritizing tasks as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possession of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification through an American Heart Association approved training program is desired.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are also desirable.
Work Environment:
The work environment for this role is primarily indoors at a well-lit military treatment facility, such as a clinic, outpatient facility, or hospital. The environment is normally air-conditioned, but conditions may change depending on circumstances. Work may need to be performed in a fast-paced environment, requiring quick thinking and rapid judgments. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities, and abilities. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids, latex, radiation, or other contaminants and safety issues may occur. May be exposed to infection or diseases from contact with patients. Work is highly social with patients and can be stressful with a high emotional element. Decisions made may substantially impact patients and their families.
Physical Demands:
The position consists of sitting for long periods of time, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, speaking or translating. Periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting boxes weighing up to 30 pounds may be required. Moderate to extended periods of office work with heavy periods of computer usage may be necessary. May be assigned occasional to moderate periods of analytical tasks requiring extensive reasoning abilities.
