**Job Overview**

Tanaq Government Services is seeking a part-time Utility Person to join our team at the Orville and Wilbur Wright Federal Buildings in Washington, D.C. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for maintaining facilities.

About the Role

  • Maintain assigned buildings and grounds, including office space, classrooms, dining halls, exterior paved and grass areas, and ensure they are always clean and orderly.
  • Perform minor repairs to building fixtures and equipment.
  • Set up and prepare rooms for special events and needs.
  • Report needed repair work to proper authorities.
  • Pick up paper and other debris from grounds and buildings.
  • May be required to perform miscellaneous maintenance work such as touch-up painting, replacing light bulbs, and changing out damaged dispensers.
  • Assure security of buildings and grounds during assigned times.
  • Mow, edge, and blow lawn areas as needed.
  • Move and/or re-arrange furniture, chairs, desks, tables, etc.
  • Perform general cleaning duties and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience in an office or similar environment.
  • A good understanding of cleaning requirements and standards required by the U.S. Government, preferably the FAA.
  • The ability to utilize a wide array of custodial chemicals, general cleaning chemicals.
  • Safe operation of custodial equipment (vacuum, backpack vacuum, cardboard bailer).
  • Effective written communication skills using appropriate business English.
  • Human relations skills to build effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and common-sense skills.
  • Ability to complete and pass the Cleaning Management Institute (CMI) Basic Custodial Technician certification within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to complete and obtain the CMI Advanced Custodial Technician Certification within the first 6 months of employment.

Physical Requirements

  • Maneuvering in and around the worksite.
  • Standing and walking.
  • Bending, kneeling, reaching, and stooping.
  • Lifting items or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Pushing/pulling objects such as vacuums, carts, etc., and equipment weighing 70-100 pounds.

Benefits

This is a Union position with benefits, vacation, holiday, and sick leave offered as defined under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Salary Information

The projected hourly pay for this position is $23.05/hour USD.
