Job Summary

The Medical Scribe will accompany physicians during patient encounters, accurately documenting events and decision-making in the electronic medical record (EMR). This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accompany physicians into patient examination rooms to transcribe patient history, physical exam findings, and document encounters.
  • Enter diagnoses, symptoms, and follow-up instructions as dictated and signed by physicians.
  • Prepare plans for follow-up care and provide advanced support to physicians, including documenting phone calls and scanning external medical records.
  • Travel with physicians to outlying clinics as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • No previous experience required, but 6 months of medical scribe experience is preferred.
  • Medical scribe certification is preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and/or ICD 9 & 10 coding is preferred.
  • Ability to move about and follow physicians for extended periods.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend through listening, and speak fluent English using proper grammar.

Work Environment

This role is a full-time day position at Greenville Memorial Med Campus, with the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment.
