UPMC Presbyterian is seeking a part-time Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Lab Technician to support the Special Tissue Typing Laboratory. The ideal candidate will be interested in working daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with rotating on-call responsibilities.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop on-the-job training and certification in ACHI (American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics). The selected candidate will be placed into the appropriate job title and salary based on their individual experience and education.
Responsibilities:
- Perform testing protocols with precision and accuracy in a timely and efficient manner.
- Recognize critical, abnormal, and unacceptable test results and follow established protocols.
- Independently perform Moderately Complex and Waived tests.
- Assist with training and orienting new employees, students, and residents.
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all compliance guidelines.
Requirements:
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification preferred.
- Associate degree in a laboratory science or equivalent education and experience.
- 1 year's experience in a hospital laboratory preferred.
