Job Overview

UPMC Presbyterian Automated Testing Lab is a cutting-edge facility where you'll play a crucial role in life-changing medicine. We're seeking dedicated Medical Lab Technicians and Medical Lab Scientists to join our dynamic team.

This position offers a flexible full-time schedule with 2nd shift hours, including weekends. You'll work 28 hours per week, with the option to cover 8/10/12 hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary for this position starts at $28.06 per hour. Additionally, UPMC is offering a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 for eligible candidates.

Responsibilities
  1. Collect and process specimens for analysis, ensuring accuracy and precision in a timely manner.
  2. Recognize critical, abnormal, and unacceptable test results, following established protocols to ensure accurate reporting.
  3. Perform quality control checks, maintain equipment, and perform minor repairs as needed.
  4. Enter patient demographic information and laboratory test orders into the laboratory information system, verifying sample integrity and adequacy.
  5. Independently perform moderately complex or waived tests, with high complexity testing overseen by a Medical Lab Scientist or reviewed by a supervisor or manager.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a laboratory science or related field, along with ASCP categorical certification, or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of experience in a hospital laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory information systems.

We prefer candidates with prior experience working every weekend, including Saturday and Sunday shifts.
