Position Summary

We are on the lookout for a Senior Audit Consultant to become part of our Affordable Housing Assurance team in our Birmingham office. The ideal candidate will flourish in a dynamic environment and deliver outstanding service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead engagement management through effective internal communication and monitoring of engagement progress.
  • Review engagement letters prepared by junior staff.
  • Oversee confirmations, including those related to debt and syndicators.
  • Engage directly with clients regarding their request lists and confirmations.
  • Conduct or supervise compliance testing for complex audits (HUD, RD, NFP).
  • Prepare audit files, including trial balances, general ledgers, bank statements, and other supporting documents.
  • Compile contractor and owner certifications, as well as Debt Coverage Ratios (DCRs).
  • Review financial statement modifications and draft Adjusting Journal Entries (AJEs), Reclassifying Journal Entries (RJEs), and Account Trial Balances (ATBs).
  • Final review or preparation of financial statements and secure files.
  • Actively engage in firm-wide initiatives.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for junior staff and interns.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in audit and/or assurance services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
