Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Service Assistant to join our team at Mount Sinai West. As a Food Service Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality food and beverage service to our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, portion, transport, and serve food and beverages as assigned, following standardized recipes, menus, and production sheets.
  • Set up and serve special catering functions as assigned.
  • Use various equipment while performing assigned tasks, operating equipment in a safe manner, and cleaning all equipment according to established guidelines.
  • Set up patient tray assembly carts, read menus, and accurately assemble trays to ensure patients' meal selections and diet prescriptions are followed.
  • Maintain compliance with Policy and Procedures, HACCP, and NYSDOH.
  • Follow standard practices for storing, issuing, covering, labeling, and dating of foods.
  • Properly dispose of waste and garbage.
  • Prepare, portion, label, and serve special nourishments and supplemental feeding to patients.
  • Rotate stock in storage areas.
  • Sweep and mop floors, and wash equipment using proper agents and supplies.
  • Set up cafeteria stations, serve food to all customers, replenish food and supplies, and keep stations clean at all times.
  • Pass out and collect patient menus and assist patients with menu selection.
  • Receive and sign for food and supplies issued.
  • Transport supplies to and from the kitchen and other areas throughout the hospital.
  • Perform general cleaning of all areas in food service.
