Job Summary

The Substance Abuse Treatment Nurse Specialist will provide comprehensive care management, education, and support to patients undergoing treatment for opioid and/or alcohol use disorder. As an integral member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments and intakes for patients seeking treatment with buprenorphine or naltrexone.
  • Monitor patients throughout the induction, stabilization, and maintenance phases of treatment.
  • Administer extended-release intramuscular naltrexone and subcutaneous buprenorphine as prescribed.
  • Provide ongoing care management, education, and support to patients, including nurse visits, urine toxicology screens, and medication teaching.
  • Foster collaboration with licensed prescribing providers to ensure adherence to federal and state guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Contribute to required State OBAT reporting and paperwork.
  • Maintain a professional environment within a multi-provider setting.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience working with homeless or underserved adult populations, preferably in a community health center setting.
  • 1+ year of experience in substance use disorder treatment, harm reduction, or behavioral health.
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team setting and independently.
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to navigate multiple software systems.
Preferred Qualifications

Certified Addiction Registered Nurse (CARN) preferred, with requirement to obtain within 2 years of employment. OBAT training also desired, with completion expected within 1 year of hire.

Estimated Salary Range

$82,016 - $96,489 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

This salary range reflects the estimated annual compensation based on national averages and industry standards for similar positions in Massachusetts.
