Photonics Solutions Architect

Position Summary:
We are looking for a Photonics Solutions Architect who will collaborate with both external and internal teams to bring revolutionary products to market. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge photonics architecture solutions aimed at delivering high-volume products tailored to our clients' needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in creative problem-solving to contribute to high-performance photonic architecture solutions.
  • Develop, simulate, and validate control and initialization algorithms for photonic circuits.
  • Conduct multiphysics considerations and simulations of photonic circuits.
  • Design experiments to validate models, conduct proof-of-concept experiments, and analyze resulting data.
  • Collaborate across disciplines with electronics, photonics, and mechanical engineers to design systems, algorithms, circuits, and devices that meet performance, power, and production specifications.
  • Document and present your contributions effectively.

Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in modeling silicon photonic circuits.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in controlling silicon photonic circuits.
  • Comprehensive understanding of photonics, optical nonlinearities, semiconductors, thermal physics, and transmission lines.
  • Proficient in photonic circuit simulations using industry-standard tools such as VPI Systems, Lumerical Interconnect, or equivalent.
  • Strong coding skills in Python or Matlab for simulation purposes.
  • Experience with corner analysis and Monte Carlo analysis.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with photonics and electronics teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in product development or industry-related projects.
  • Background in optical communications.
  • Familiarity with silicon photonic integrated circuit design and measurements.
  • Experience in design for manufacturing and reliability.
  • Knowledge of microcontrollers and digital control.
  • A strong publication record.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive learner with a positive attitude towards tasks of all sizes.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this role is between $170,000 and $245,000, determined by factors such as location, experience, educational background, and market data.
