Overview:


Engages with stakeholders to discern and articulate business and stakeholder needs, while pinpointing solutions that will enhance the value delivered.

This encompasses interviewing stakeholders, eliciting, analyzing, specifying, and validating business, stakeholder, solution, and transition requirements, and effectively communicating those requirements to solution/development teams throughout the software development life cycle (Agile, Waterfall, Iterative).

Utilizes established communication, modeling, analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, negotiation, influence, and leadership skills to ensure stakeholder expectations are fulfilled. Generates requirements for extensive, intricate Enterprise projects that necessitate planning, elicitation, documentation, analysis, and management of business.

Acts as a conduit between the business customer and Information Technology (IT) project team(s) by fostering cooperative, constructive, and effective working relationships with both internal and external customers.

Ensures IT comprehends the business and stakeholder requirements and addresses any gaps in understanding. Mentors and guides less-experienced BAs. Competent to operate at the highest skill level while considering the business implications of technology application.

Conducts gap analysis of current and future states, facilitating sessions with the business to identify necessary changes to achieve specific strategic and enterprise objectives.

Responsible for making a defined range of decisions, escalating to management when necessary and keeping the Manager updated regularly.


Responsibilities:

What you will do:
Accountable for planning and overseeing activities related to business analysis. Selects a business analysis approach that is suitable for the change. Conducts a stakeholder analysis to identify potential types and areas of impact associated with the change.

Establishes a robust relationship with the project manager to ensure a shared understanding of the goals, objectives, and scope of a change initiative.

Responsible for the elicitation of business requirements and related activities. Employs various elicitation techniques to determine the characteristics of the change. Confirms and communicates the stakeholders' needs. Identifies and nurtures relationships with key stakeholders; formulates and poses probing questions and actively listens to responses.

Accountable for activities related to business requirements management and communication. Translates business concerns, inquiries, and desires into clear stakeholder requirements through use cases, process diagrams, functional requirements, and others. Defines relationships between various types of requirements. Traces requirements to business objectives, test cases, and solutions. Evaluates the value, urgency, and risk associated with each individual requirement. Assesses new and changing requirements for impact on projects. Collaborates with stakeholders to achieve approval and consensus on requirements.

Serves as a liaison between the stakeholder and project team(s) to ensure comprehension of the requirements will lead to an effective solution.

Responsible for requirements analysis and design definition. Analyzes needs to recommend a solution or a range of solutions. Analyzes and quantifies the potential value of the solution options. Models and/or customizes requirements so they are comprehensible and usable by each stakeholder group.

Responsible for strategy or Enterprise analysis. Evaluates the current state of how the Enterprise operates today, establishing a baseline and context for future changes. Defines future state goals and objectives and how the Enterprise needs to evolve to meet those goals. Understands uncertainties and assesses risks to recommend actions that deliver value. Conducts gap analysis between current and future state, suggesting the highest value approach for reaching the future state. Examines the potential value of the solution to determine if the change is warranted.


Coordinates and facilitates meetings with representatives from all organizational levels, vendors, and regulatory agencies as required to support planning, validation/acceptance, and final deployment processes.

Provides support, mentoring, and guidance to project teams and incumbents.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or IT required, (Required)

Master's Degree or MBA (Preferred)

Minimum of 10 years of business analysis experience in IT or a business environment. (Required)

Demonstrated experience in writing requirements documents. Requirements are well-formed, cohesive, complete, consistent, feasible, modifiable, unambiguous, and testable. (Required)

Proven experience in strategic analysis techniques and principles of business and enterprise architecture. (Required)

Demonstrated experience with requirements analysis/management tools is preferred. (Preferred)

Demonstrated experience in setting goals and successfully implementing and achieving those goals. (Required)


Demonstrated experience in creating and fostering a team culture committed to collaborative cross-functional relationships and service excellence.

(Preferred)

Proven ability to conduct stakeholder analysis, select a project approach, and estimate BA effort.

Proven understanding of the distinction between requirements: business, stakeholder, solution (functional and non-functional), and transition


Demonstrated ability to lead requirements gathering/definition workshops, focus groups, and/or process diagramming workshops involving both business stakeholders and delivery teams.

Proven ability to construct business process models.

Demonstrated ability to understand and utilize decision analysis techniques.

Demonstrated ability to manage requirements in Waterfall, Agile, and/or Iterative Software Development Methodologies.

Proven ability to problem-solve by defining basic steps and/or providing examples where techniques were employed.

Demonstrated ability to grasp technology concepts such as databases, table-driven code, testing tools, security, and/or computer programming concepts.


Proven ability to assist in conducting research on software and hardware products to meet agreed-upon requirements and to support purchasing efforts.


Demonstrated ability to assist with the interpretation of requirements into feasible options, considering technical and business constraints, and communicates options to the stakeholders.

Proven ability to effectively present solution options and recommendations to stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to construct specifications, models, diagrams, and charts to communicate needs to solution designers, developers, and testers.

Proven ability to maintain and reconcile forward and backward traceability of requirements.


Demonstrated ability to lead Enterprise analysis activities, including defining business needs and objectives, assessing capabilities, selecting solutions and scope, and developing the business case.

Proven ability to assess/perform peer review of requirements completed by others.

Demonstrated ability to engage, elicit, validate, and present findings to senior leadership.


Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to convey information to clients, internal and external stakeholders, in a clear and concise manner.

Demonstrated ability to reduce uncertainty and manage ambiguity. Effectively addresses problems that lack clear solutions.

Demonstrated adaptability to adjust to multiple demands/deadlines, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change.

Proven strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.

Demonstrated strong awareness and business understanding regarding the domains they work in/with.


Demonstrated knowledge and experience of various insurance industry systems, insurance and annuity products, and/or the product development process, is not required but beneficial.

Proven ability to mentor and coach less-experienced BAs.

Demonstrated ability to participate in recruiting and interviewing candidates for BA positions.

Proven ability to manage and coordinate the work and priorities of a team of BAs (internal or external).

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint).

Experience with MS SharePoint and Access is advantageous.

Work Setting/Position Demands:


Operates in an office environment and remains in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a desk, on a computer, or with other standard office equipment, or during meetings.

Engages in frequent keyboarding work requiring the ability to perform repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Occasionally moves about to accomplish tasks, particularly moving from one workstation to another.
Extended hours may be required during peak workloads or special projects.
