Job Title: Secondary ESL Instructor

Position Overview: This role involves planning, teaching, and facilitating educational experiences for all students in the English as a Second Language program. The instructor will create an engaging and supportive learning atmosphere while maintaining academic records and discipline. Collaboration with students, parents, and colleagues is essential to tailor educational approaches that meet diverse student needs.

Location: To Be Determined

Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Building Principal

Work Schedule/FLSA Status: As per negotiated agreement / Exempt

Compensation: Starting salary for the 2024/25 academic year: $50,500 with a Bachelor's Degree; $55,550 with a Master's Degree. Salary adjustments may be considered based on relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement lesson plans that foster student learning and cognitive development.
  • Encourage and enhance students' self-esteem and respect for education.
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate a diverse student body.
  • Incorporate technology and leadership skills into the curriculum.
  • Guide the learning process to help students achieve educational objectives.
  • Maintain a conducive learning environment.
  • Utilize effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress.
  • Select appropriate instructional materials and methods.
  • Build positive relationships with all assigned students.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support the overall goals of the educational program.

Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal or designated administrators.

Equipment Requirements: Proficiency in using SMART boards, iPads, and standard office equipment is necessary. Compliance with operational guidelines for equipment use is expected.

Travel Requirements: Limited travel may be required.

  • Ability to respond swiftly in emergency situations.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Work in various school environments.

Interpersonal Relations:
  • Interact with district personnel and stakeholders.
  • Work under the supervision of building administration to fulfill daily responsibilities.
  • Engage with a diverse population, demonstrating tact and diplomacy.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and respond to stakeholder needs appropriately.
  • Provide friendly and professional service to all internal and external stakeholders.

Employee Expectations:
  • Employees are expected to fulfill all assigned duties and adhere to scheduled hours unless prior approval for leave is obtained.
  • Any deviations from assigned hours require prior authorization from a supervisor.
  • Professional attire that reflects a positive image of the organization is mandatory.

Employment Terms:
This position is classified as a full-time exempt certified role. Employment terms are governed by state laws and Board of Education policies, which may change over time.

Conditions of employment include:
  • Verification of a valid teaching license.
  • A satisfactory background check.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal work authorization.
  • Completion of a tuberculosis skin test, if applicable.
  • Signing of a Teacher Contract presented by the organization.
