Job Title: Nutrition Services Director

About the Role:

The County of Wayne seeks a skilled Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to serve as a Nutrition Services Director for its Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. This role involves providing nutritional education, guidance, counseling, and oversight to all aspects of the WIC nutrition service program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team in assigning, assisting, and checking work to support staff.
  • Communicate with management, staff, and clients regarding concerns.
  • Assist in training and evaluating students in health-related intern programs.
  • Maintain clinic supply orders and cleanliness.
  • Manage clinic appointment schedules, onsite lists, and daily workflow.
  • Complete required reports and monthly clinic paperwork.
  • Maintain WIC EBT card inventory.
  • Process formula returns and donations with documentation.
  • Hold keys and/or alarm codes for individual clinic sites.
  • Contribute to local agency Nutrition Education Plan and/or serve as agency Nutrition Education Coordinator.
  • Develop nutrition education materials and assist with training other WIC and HHVS staff members.
  • Assist in quality assurance, accreditation, and public health nutrition program endeavors.
  • Conduct nutritional assessments and formulate care plans for at-risk clients.
  • Implement nutrition risk education through individual and group sessions.
  • Determine approval of food packages and special formula requests.
  • Provide client-centered education and referrals on various subjects.
  • Integrate software applications for data tracking and reporting.
  • Compile statistics and complete monthly reports.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in dietetics or related field; Master's preferred.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification.
  • Valid State of Michigan driver's license.
  • At least 5 years of full-time professional RDN experience in public health or outpatient settings.

Estimated Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

Work Environment: The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and able to exercise mature judgment in analyzing problems and recommending solutions. The successful applicant will also demonstrate a commitment to serving diverse communities and promoting healthy lifestyles.
