Job Summary

The Clinical Operations Director for Surgical Services will oversee the personnel, operational and financial activities of the Department of Surgery Administration at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital. This role ensures sufficient professional and physician assistant support to complete the department's special mission. The Director will provide leadership in identifying patient care and process care problems and collaborate in designing corrective actions.

This position requires a strong leader who can promote optimal patient care in the hospital through quality improvement programs and continuing education for physicians, residents, physician assistants, nurses, and other staff. As a professional resource, the Director will serve nursing, physician assistant, and other staff and provide input into their performance evaluation.

The Clinical Operations Director will monitor compliance with credential and continuing education requirements of licensed professionals in the department. In collaboration with Administrative Directors, Medical Affairs, Chief of the Department of Surgery, and Section Chiefs of specialty surgical services, this role will assist in developing and implementing strategic plans and annual operating goals. Participating in ongoing review and updates to business plans, the Director will ensure effective management of overall department services according to hospital, regulatory, and certifying agency standards.

Key responsibilities include establishing partnerships and relationships with participating physicians and relevant medical staff and personnel, overseeing or directing development and/or revision of department procedures/protocols, approving procedures/protocols as necessary, and ensuring timely completion of performance appraisals. Additionally, the Director will assist in developing and monitoring budgets and ensure compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements, and DMC policies.

We are seeking an experienced healthcare professional with a Bachelors degree in Nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience. A license to practice as a Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan is required. Three years of progressively more responsible experience in administrative capacities in a healthcare environment, including two years of clinical experience, is also necessary for this role.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
