Role Overview:

The University of Tennessee Knoxville, College of Social Work, is seeking applications for a Coordinator to oversee the Tennessee Child Support Employment & Parenting Program (TCSEPP). This role is situated within the Social Work Office of Research and Public Service (SWORPS) and acts as a case manager for a child support initiative funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS). The TCSEPP's mission is to assist non-custodial parents in overcoming employment barriers to achieve stability, secure jobs, fulfill child support obligations, attain self-sufficiency, and engage actively in their children's lives.

Work Location: This position primarily serves the 31st Judicial District, focusing on Van Buren and Warren Counties.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assess participant eligibility and identify barriers, making suitable referrals as necessary.

- Create personalized action plans and provide individualized case management to support job readiness and emotional well-being.

- Maintain precise records of all participant interactions in designated systems such as TCSES, Apricot, and Excel.

- Monitor participants' child support eligibility, payments, program engagement, and employment status.

- Manage petty cash, procurement cards, and other financial accounts as assigned.

- Establish and nurture partnerships with local organizations to assist participants in overcoming employment barriers.

- Attend community meetings to share and gather information about available resources.

- Participate in partner meetings and provide insights to evaluators regarding program progress.

- Regularly update Child Support staff and legal representatives on participant developments.

- Maintain a presence in court to build positive relationships with the Child Support legal system and recruit potential participants.

- Engage in job/resource fairs and assist in developing outreach materials, such as brochures.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer or client service.

- Candidates without a Bachelor's degree may qualify with an additional 3 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience working with non-custodial parents or in employment programs.
  • Experience collaborating with community organizations or social service agencies.
  • Familiarity with the Tennessee Child Support Enforcement System (TCSES) and Apricot databases.
  • Prior experience as a case manager, case worker, or social service professional.
Competencies:

- Strong case management skills, including the ability to assess participant needs and foster trusting relationships.

- Effective communication with partners, including child support, legal representatives, and employers.

- Advocacy skills for participant support.

- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

- Willingness to travel across multiple counties to serve participants.

- Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the program.
