Role Overview:
The University of Tennessee Knoxville, College of Social Work, is seeking applications for the role of Coordinator for the Tennessee Child Support Employment & Parenting Program (TCSEPP). This position operates within the Social Work Office of Research and Public Service (SWORPS) and serves as a case manager for a child support initiative funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS). The TCSEPP team is dedicated to assisting non-custodial parents in overcoming employment barriers to achieve stability, secure jobs, fulfill child support obligations, attain self-sufficiency, and engage actively in their children's lives.
Location: The position primarily serves the 31st Judicial District, focusing on Van Buren and Warren Counties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess participant eligibility and identify barriers, providing appropriate referrals.
- Create individualized action plans and deliver one-on-one case management to support job readiness and emotional well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of participant interactions in designated systems (e.g., TCSES, Apricot, Excel).
- Monitor child support eligibility, payments, program compliance, and employment status of participants.
- Manage petty cash accounts, procurement cards, and other financial records as assigned.
- Establish and nurture partnerships with local agencies to address employment barriers for participants.
- Attend community meetings to share and learn about available resources.
- Engage in partner meetings and provide insights to evaluators regarding program progress.
- Update Child Support staff and legal representatives on participant advancements.
- Maintain a presence in court to foster relationships with the Child Support legal system and recruit potential participants.
- Participate in job/resource fairs and assist in developing outreach materials such as brochures.
Qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer or client service.
- Candidates without a Bachelor's degree may qualify with an additional 3 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with non-custodial parents and/or employment programs.
- Collaboration with community organizations and social service agencies.
- Familiarity with the Tennessee Child Support Enforcement System (TCSES) and Apricot databases.
- Previous roles as a case manager, case worker, or social service professional.
- Proficient case management abilities.
- Strong assessment skills to identify participant needs.
- Capacity to build trusting relationships and provide emotional support.
- Effective communication with partners, including child support agencies and legal representatives.
- Advocacy skills for participant interests.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to travel across multiple counties to serve participants.
- Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the program.
